Pneumatic Head Compressor (BE)

PHC French Bio: The group formed in 1994 following a chance encounter between two brothers of French origin at an art school in Brussels and their meeting with musicians from the Belgian, and later Swiss, rock scene. They created a repertoire combining a heavy guitar sound with a more deconstructed bass-and-drums rhythmic approach, and a definite penchant for noise-based atmospheres, enhanced by vocals that were by turns screamed, guttural, calm, and whispered. They played in Belgium, France, and Switzerland in clubs and at festivals, despite the various lineups of the group (three singers and three drummers took turns). At the end of 2000, the group decided to remain a trio with electronic instruments. 2001 was dedicated to recording, producing, and mixing the album "The Perfect Human Conflict." In April 2003, the Swiss singer, Jérôme, left the group to pursue other opportunities; the remaining duo then took over. PHC's musical direction lies somewhere between hardcore, post-rock, experimental noise, and industrial (Godflesh, Double Nelson, Ministry, Zeni Geva, YoungGods, Melvins, Neurosis, Zappa, Dillinger Escape Plan, Melt Banana, Primus, Mr. Bungle, Fugazi, Fantômas, Ruins, Scorn, Napalm Death, NoMeansNo, Pitch Shifter, Victim's Family, etc.). Loops, sonic experiments, and sampler programming provide a rhythmic foundation, linked by more ambient passages, forming a kind of wall of sound to which guitar, bass, and vocals are grafted. Régis Masson: guitar, vocals, samplers, programming. Christophe Masson: bass, vocals, samplers, programming. PHC English Bio: The band was created in Brussels in 1994 by two French brothers, a guitarist and a bass guitarist respectively. They were soon joined by Belgian musicians. After many line-up changes and numerous concerts in Belgium and abroad, PNEUMATIC HEAD COMPRESSOR has stabilized. Guitar, bass guitar, singing and machines form a music group of 2 persons having achieved a certain maturity and personality by mixing sounds and arrangements that stray off the beaten track. With destructured, heavy, tortured music and a confusion of original tones, strange noises, shouts and atypical singings, PHC surprises by the originality and diversity of its repertoire. The influences of the band are between industrial, electronical, metal, rock and noise music. Godfelsh, Double Nelson, Ministry, Primus, Melvins, Zeni Geva, Neurosis, Fantômas, Dillinger Escape Plan, Atari Teenage Riot, Fugazi, Melt Banana, Napalm Death, Iron Monkey, No means No, Victim's Family, Pitch Shifter, Scorn...are some bands that PHC menbers enjoy during their spare time. Régis Masson: Guitar, vocals, samplers and programming. Christophe Masson: Bass, vocals, samplers and programming.
