About the label
Rockerill Records is the independent record label of the Rockerill, a former steelworks turned concert venue and art space in Marchienne-au-Pont, Charleroi (Belgium).
The Rockerill lives in the old Forges de la Providence, founded in 1838 by Thomas Bonehill: the very first steel mill of Charleroi's "Pays Noir". Abandoned after the decline of the steel industry, the forges were brought back to life by the non-profit Rockerill Production as an urban centre for popular, social and alternative cultures, with four rooms: La Cathédrale, Les Forges, Le Rockerill and La Grande Salle.
Running the label is one of the missions of Rockerill Production, alongside the concerts and exhibitions. The idea is the same as for the venue: gather local artists, help them, advise them, promote them and give them a space to express themselves, far from the mainstream.
What we release: noisy rock, punk, garage, post-punk, synth, krautrock, electro and a fair amount of mauvais genre, mostly from Charleroi, Brussels and the rest of Belgium, with friends from France and further away. Records are pressed on vinyl, CD and tape, and sold here, on Bandcamp, at gigs and in independent record shops.
